Classic Pizza Dough

Updated: Dec 12, 2023

This pizza dough has been tested thoroughly, as my Mum has been using it longer than I've been alive! Its so simple and delicious and can be ready in under and hour! This is a single batch recipe but i have successfully made 2 or 3 smaller pizzas out of this recipe. Or feel free to double it to make even more! Ive even made adoable heart shaped pizzas with this recipe!

INGREDIENTS

1 tbsp Active Yeast

1/4 cup Warm water (not to hot or else you will kill the yeast!)

1/4 tsp Sugar

1 cup Boiling Water

1 tbsp Olive oil

1 tbsp Sugar

1 tsp Salt

2 3/4 cups Flour

INSTRUCTIONS

In measuring cup or medium sized bowl measure out the yeast and the warm water as well as the 1/4 tsp of sugar. Let sit for about 10 minutes until yeast mixture has doubled in size. Preheat oven to 425F.

Meanwhile in a large metal mixing bowl measure out boiling water, sugar, salt and olive oil, let cool. Now that that yeast has doubled pour this mixture in with the water mixture. Then add 1 cup of flour whisking to combine. Add in another 1 cup of flour, though you may want to switch over to a rubber spatula as the dough will get sticky quickly! Stir until flour is combined. Finally add in the last 3/4 cup of flour and stir until dough just starts coming together.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and need until dough is smooth and elastic. Place the dough back into the bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and let the dough rise in a warm spot (like on top of the oven). Allow the dough to rise for about 10 minutes or until it has doubled in size.

Once dough has plumped up nicely turn the dough out onto you floured surface smooth/toss/roll out the dough until it is at your desired shape and thinness. Place on a greased pizza pan (using butter or margarine) or if your making a few smaller pizzas a parchment covered baking sheet works well too!

Spread with pizza sauce, and your choice of toppings (ham, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, red peppers, red onion, pineapple, the options are endless and always delicious!) Finally top with Mozzarella cheese or a Cheddar Mozza Combo.

Place in oven and cook for 15-25 minutes until pizza is fluffy and bottom side is nicely browned. If your doing more then one pizza place pans on different rack and switch the two so that both pizzas get a nicely browned bottom. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy!
