Croque Monsieur's

Updated: Oct 3, 2020

My absolute favorite way to eat left over pork tenderloin. This Parisian style hot sandwich full of pork, cheese, caramelized apples and rich white sauce, how can you go wrong?

INGREDIENTS

1 pork-loin, sliced (leftover is fine! Or you can cook up 2 at the same time with just a simple McCormick's Montreal Steak Spice and a tbsp of olive oil at 400 F for 25 minutes until inserted meat thermometer reaches 140 F.

1 recipe for Bechamel

Caramelized Apples :

3-4 Apples, peeled, cored & sliced

1 tbsp Melted Butter

1 tbsp Brown Sugar

1-2 tsp Cinnamon

Dash of Salt

Add ingredients to a medium sized mixing bowl, stir until apples are evenly covered. Place in preheated oven and bake until tender and fragrant.

10-15 slices Provolone or Mozzarella

French Bread, sliced or thich sliced fresh baked white bread

INSTRUCTIONS

Set oven to 350 F. Pan fry sliced pork tenderloin in medium sauce pan until browned on both sides, set aside.

Whip up the Bechamel, set aside and allow to cool slightly. Be sure sauce is thick!

Slice French bread to your desired thickness, toast bread and set aside. Slice cheese as well and set aside, to begin assembling sandwiches start with a bread layer, spread sauce, large layer of browned pork, cheese, caramelized apples, more sauce and final bread layer. If ypu so desire you can even do a layer of sauce and cheese ontop of the final slice of bread. Place on parchment covered baking tray. Place in oven and cook until cheese is bubbling and browned. Serve cut in half with a light salad on the side!
