A simple, flakey pie dough that can be used for sweet or savory pies! If you have dough left over you can freeze it and use it for future use!
INGREDIENTS
5 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 Brick Tender Flake Shortening
1 Egg
1 tbsp White Vinegar
1 cup Cold Water
INSTRUCTIONS
Begin by measuring flour, baking soda and salt into a large mixing bowl, stir to combine.
Next take brick of Tender Flake Shortening and cut a few times with a butter knife while still in its parchment, then place in flour bowl. Using a pastry cutter, cut shortening until it is pea sized.
In a liquid measuring cup add egg and whisk until frothy, then add vinegar. Using cold water fill measuring cup WITH egg and vinegar until it is at the 1 cup level. Add this mixture to flour and shortening mixture and using a rubber spatula mix until dough just starts coming together. Then using your hands form dough together but be sure NOT TO OVER WORK IT! You want the dough to be tender and soft still. Then make smaller dough balls and roll flat and add it to pie tins! Fill it with your favorite pie flavor and enjoy!
