INSTRUCTIONS
To make meatballs:
Preheat oven to 400 F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside for now. Place all listed ingredients for meatballs in your upright mixer with paddle attachment. Or a medium bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are nicley blened.
Now form 1 inch meatballs with meat mixture. Place on a parchment covered baking sheet. Bake for 15-25 minutes until cooked completely through.
To make Honey Garlic Sauce:
In a small saucepan over medium heat add olive oil and garlic. Sautee for a few minutes until fragrant, then add the water, honey, soy sauce, 5 spice powder, brown sugar and black pepper. Do not add salt, there is plenty in the soy sauce.
Let this mixture simmer for a few minutes then thicken with the slurry of corn starch and water. Stirring often with a whisk as you add the slurry. Cook for another minute or so stirring often with your whisk, then set aside.
Once meatballs are cooked place in a casserole dish. Add a bit of the left over fat to honey garlic sauce, mix it through. Then pour half the honey garlic sauce over meatballs, add a handful of chopped green onions and serve over rice or my oh so tasty Vegetable Fried Rice! Reserve the rest of the sauce for serving!
