A tasty take on a Reuben sandwich, with Montreal Smoked Meat, Sauerkraut and Cheese on crispy bread.
INGREDIENTS
Rye bread or French Bread
Montreal Smoked Meat (i usually get the prepackaged ones but you can get it sliced fresh as well!)
1 can or jar of Sauerkraut
Sliced Cheese like Gouda or Provolone
Mayo
Dijion Mustard
INSTRUCTIONS
Begin by slicing and toasting bread, i usually slice it all and place it on a baking sheet covered in parchment. Place in oven set to 400 f and toast for about 5 or so minutes until lightly browned.
Next heat griddle or large frying pan on medium heat. Add smoked meat and cook for a few minutes until it starts to loose some of its moisture and browns lightly, Remove from heat and set aside on plate.
Next cook Sauerkraut for a few minutes until it too loses some moisture and begins to brown slightly. Remove and set aside.
Now we will begin to build the sandwiches! Start by coating one side with a good slathering of mayo and the other with dijion. Next place a good portion of Montreal Smoked Meat, then a Sauerkraut and finally sliced cheese! Place to top potion of bread on top and place back in the oven for 5 or so minutes until cheese melts. Remove from oven, cut sandwich in half and enjoy! We like to eat these tasty sandwiches with a side of Wedge Fries, which can be found in the accompaniments recipe category.
